Check intelligence while hiring
Devs are usually asked to solve coding puzzles during hiring interviews. It doesn't verify coding skills, it verifies their IQ mapped to coding.
Upper management is usually asked to solve various IQ or CCAT tests.
In the end it's about problem solving skills we all need in our jobs.
I worked in many companies having high and no/low quality bars for IQ tests.
The difference is in what teams in these companies can achieve.
One group transforms the industry, solve hard challenges. Another group does smooth and boring work for years.
Architects are those solving challenges. They should be able to solve problems nobody else in the company can.
Guess how often IQ is verified during architect interviews? Almost never.
I use architecture puzzles during hiring interviews. They emulate production like experience and verify an architect has above average IQ and he is a master in architectural thinking.
You can try them here. Or apply them as automated verification in your hiring pipeline.
