If you barely understand a big portion of speech/text, it doesn't mean you're stupid. It means the author cannot express his point of view in a clear and concise manner, focus on important things. This heavily influences on effectiveness of the work.

Very often an architect cannot express his point of view in a clear and concise manner.
Partially because his word salad was interpreted as a sign of big intelligence and experience on job interview. Partially because he grew seeing such messaging as role model.

S - Simplify.
I - Internalize. Imagine it in your head.
R - Repeat in your own words.
I - Iterate. Repeat SIRI if an interpretation is not fully correct
